ARRESTS MADE IN HEROIN SALES INVESTIGATION
On June 22, 2012, at approximately 11 p.m, officers from the Arcata Police Department contacted two individuals at the Uniontown Shopping Center who appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance. The two were the subject of an o-going investigation by the Arcata Police Department into possible drug sales and had been contacted and arrested with a third individual in relation to unlawful drug possession on June 21, 2012 in Arcata.
As a result of the contact at the shopping center, approximately one gram of heroin and several illegally possessed prescription medications were located in their vehicle. A subsequent probation search of their residence in the 2400 block of Eye Street located more controlled substances.
Between the two contacts and during the investigation, officers located and seized over one ounce of heroin, over 15 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, prescription medications and over two grams of methamphetamine. Officers also located records of drug sales, scales and packaging materials, indicating that the two possessed the drugs for sale.
The individuals taken into custody were Arcata residents. All were arrested for possession of heroin and possession of heroin for sale. They were additionally charged with unlawful possession of prescription medication, owner or agent allowing place for manufacture, storage or distribution of controlled substance and violation of probation.
The investigation into the drug sales is ongoing. The residence is located within a short distance of Arcata Elementary School. Enhancements for drug sales within a school zone will be requested as charges are pursued through the Humboldt County District Attorney’s Office.
The suspects’ names are being withheld due to an ongoing investigation.
